17 Feb International Tourist Guide Day | February 21 st
International Tourist Guide Day is a professional holiday celebrated each year on February 21. This observance was established by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) and has been held since 1990.
The WFTGA was founded in February 1985 at the first International Convention of Tourist Guides. Nowadays, the association represents more than 2,000 thousand individual tourist guides from over 70 countries. It is the only global forum for tourist guides from all other the world that unites individual tourists guides, tourist guide associations, educational institutions, and tourism partners.
In Italy, the International Tourist Guide Day is promoted by National Tourist Guides Association.
Events are held for local tourist guides including presentations and retraining courses. It is a public relations event par excellence, drawing the attention of local authorities, fellow citizens and the media to the quality and value of the work of professional tourist guides. Attractions and museums open their doors without charge.
According to the traditional event of the International Tourist Guide Day, Guide Turistiche delle Marche will be pleased to offer free tours on February 29th and on march 1st 2020 to all visitors in the following places:
